LIVERMORE, CA — The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau has identified the swimmer who drowned over the weekend at Lake Del Valle.

Joseph Prince Freeman, 40, was found Monday after the Alameda County Sheriff's Office deployed its dive team and used sonar technology to scan the 150-foot-deep waters in search of the swimmer. Freeman may have lived in Pleasant Hill, according to the coroner's bureau.

Freeman was last spotted near the dam in Dal Valle Regional Park, about 10 miles southeast of Livermore. East Bay Regional Parks District was first notified that he went underwater Saturday evening, then called in the sheriff's office.
