Crews Search For Lake Del Valle Swimmer Who Apparently Drowned

A person went underwater near the dam, according to the sheriff's office.

LIVERMORE, CA — Rescue crews continued to search Monday for a swimmer who went underwater Sunday evening at Lake Del Valle and appeared to have drowned, officials said.

The swimmer went missing near the dam in Del Valle Regional Park, said Sgt. Ray Kelly of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.

Rescue crews with the sheriff's office dive team dove and used sonar technology to scan the 150-foot-deep waters in search of the swimmer.

Lake Del Valle is about 10 miles southeast of Livermore in the East Bay Regional Parks District. Parks police initially headed to the scene to search for the swimmer.
