Dan Cherrier 'Works Relentlessly' For Dublin Schools

DUBLIN, CA — Without community leaders, Dublin wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways. Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions. Five different Dublin residents wrote in support of DUSD Board Trustee and former President Dan Cherrier: Godai Elenchezhean, Aman Gill, Ramya Ramakrishnan, Venkatesh Seenivasan, and Archana Sudame. Their answers to each of the following questions are reprinted below.

What does this community leader do?

Godai: Works relentlessly to accomplish school related activities. He was instrumental in buying the second high school Dublin needed badly.

Aman: Supports the community’s voice despite so much negative feedback from some members of the community that have their own self interests in mind.

Ramya: School board Trustee at Dublin Unified school district and past president.

Venkatesh: [Former] School board president.

Archana: As a Dublin Unified School Board Trustee, Dan is fearless and transparent.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Godai: Dan [Cherrier] went above and beyond to make Emerald High School a reality.

Aman: He truly supports the vision that the majority of Dublin residents have for the school district and he has never wavered in his commitment to serve regardless of no longer having children in the city’s schools.

Ramya: He is a truly selfless leader who has repeatedly stepped up to represent families, especially immigrant families who don't necessarily have voting rights, so that their children have access to quality education. He has made personal sacrifices for over a decade to make sure that a second comprehensive high school gets built for the students. After several delays and attempts to kill the effort by past leadership, this much needed new school is now close to being completed, thanks to Cherrier. He has never hesitated to ask tough questions and is very much loved and respected by his community. There is nobody else in Dublin who deserves this recognition more than this humble, caring public servant.

Venkatesh: Dan should be recognized and honored as the best community leader due to his unwavering commitment to our community's interests, his refusal to yield to external pressures, and his remarkable achievement in securing a second high school despite challenging odds. His consistent re-election multiple times further underscores the trust and confidence our community places in his exceptional leadership.

Archana: Because he is a true leader and believes in standing up to represent his constituents. Dan can step beyond political rhetoric and showmanship. He is honest and transparent and he listens to his voters.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Godai: He is our hero.

Aman: He will stand up for you, will make the voice of those that aren’t strong enough to speak for themselves be heard. He is so strong and fights through for his community.

Ramya: Kind, humble, selfless and caring Venkatesh: One essential aspect to understand about our community hero, the school board president, is that his leadership is characterized by an unwavering dedication to prioritizing the needs and well-being of our community above all else.
