Deadly Crash Reported On I-580 In Livermore
Eastbound lanes were closed for about three hours.

LIVERMORE, CA — One person was killed in a four vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in Livermore Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. At one point, all eastbound lanes were closed.
First, a Ford Mustang rear-ended a Ford pickup truck around 3:30 a.m. Thursday in the far-left lane at the First Street exit. Then a Chevrolet pickup truck allegedly traveling over the speed limit broadsided the Mustang, which was stuck sideways in the far-left lane.
The driver was unable to brake, and the truck crashed into the right front passenger door of the Mustang. Then the rear of the Chevrolet was hit by a passing Ford Expedition,.

The driver of the Mustang died in the crash, CHP spokesperson Officer Tyler Hahn said. The Chevrolet driver suffered a broken left knee and broken right ankle. No one else was injured.
A Sig-Alert was issued at 3:52 a.m. as all eastbound lanes were blocked. The far left lane reopened at 5:13, and the remaining lanes at 6:51.
