Riley’s loves all the different experiences she gets to enjoy with the troop, from camping each month, various hikes, volunteer opportunities and getting the chance to go on a high adventure camp in the Bahamas, called Sea Base, with her troop. (which was a weeklong sailing/snorkeling trip). She completed 29 merit badges which gave her an extensive learning opportunity in many different subject areas.
For her Eagle Scout project, Riley built two storage benches for Valley Humane Society in Pleasanton. The benches will reside in their Kitty City to welcome visitors. Riley worked with Sally Parsons, Program Specialist at Valley Humane, who wrote in her #Philanthropy Thursday post: “Thank you Riley, and congratulations on finishing your Eagle Scout Project!” Riley led thirteen scouts as well as eight adult leaders and parents who volunteered for her project. After planning and purchasing of materials, the building and painting took approximately 23 hours over four days. The total number of man-hours on the project was 223 hours.
