A police dog was called in to assist with a traffic stop that ended in the arrest of a 48-year-old Oakland man.

LIVERMORE, CA — A 48-year-old felon from Oakland was arrested last week after police, with the help of a K9, discovered drugs and a loaded handgun during a traffic stop, authorities said.
Just after 10 p.m. on Friday, March 21, police stopped the driver of a BMW SUV near Vasco Road and Northfront road for a traffic violation, the Livermore Police Department said Monday. During that stop, a police officer saw items inside the vehicle consistent with drug dealing, according to police.
That's when "K9 Drake," a police dog was called to the scene to help officers search the vehicle. Police and the K9 uncovered three ounces of cocaine, prescription pills, fentanyl and the loaded 9mm handgun.
