Ex-Livermore Mayor John Marchand Returns To City Politics: Report
John Marchand has launched a new bid to lead the East Bay city again.
LIVERMORE — Former Livermore Mayor John Marchand has launched a new bid for his old job.
Current Mayor Bob Woerner's decision not to seek reelection due to health issues was cited by Marchand as key factor in bid to lead city again, The East Bay Times reports.
“There’s still a lot of work that needs to get done in the downtown, and we have some tremendous momentum on things we’ve been working on for years. We need to keep that up; we’re still in very turbulent times, troubling times,” Marchand told the news outlet.

Marchand in a 2021 Bay City News interview said he's proud of his work in Livermore's downtown and on the city's Drug House Abatement Ordinance, put in place in 2013.
He told Bay City News he plans continue working on water issues and has starting hiking more, saying it may prompt his venture to be photography.
"I'm looking for my next endeavor to be passionate about," Marchand said.
