Fatal Crash, Major Delays On I-580 In Livermore: Police

The crash involved a motorcycle and was expected to cause delays through the Thursday morning commute, according to police.

LIVERMORE, CA — A fatal crash involving a motorcyclist was blocking multiple lanes of Interstate 580 on Thursday morning in Livermore, according to police.

Motorists were told by police to expect delays as of 5:55 a.m. on the westbound interstate at North Livermore Avenue and that multiple lanes were blocked.

As of 6:20 a.m., a SigAlert had been issued and only the far left lane was open, with major delays anticipated for the morning commute, California Highway Patrol said on social media.

Preliminary reports from the highway patrol indicate that the crash happened around 5:40 a.m. when a motorcycle trying to travel between other vehicles was struck.
