Flagpole Plaza To Get Game Tables, More Outdoor Dining
The plaza is undergoing an estimated $3.5 million worth of renovations, and will reopen in summer 2025, the city said.

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore is completing an estimated $3.5 million worth of improvements on Flagpole Plaza, which includes enhanced outdoor dining, increased security, and a restored public gathering space.
The city plans to work through the summer to help turn plaza into a "vibrant, accessible, and welcoming gathering place." Key improvements include:
- A restored public gathering space that includes game new game tables for chess, checkers, and other board games
- Enhanced outdoor dining areas
- New stamped concrete walkways and landscaping
- Improved accessibility
- Upgraded lighting
- Advanced security cameras for enhanced safety
The city's engineering and planning departments developed plans in coordination with neighboring businesses, which will stay open during the construction, according to city spokesperson Stephanie Egidio. For one week, stamped concrete will result in disruption to businesses, and affected businesses have been notified.

The plaza is currently closed. Sidewalk dining is expected to reopen in early summer, and the entire plaza is expected to open in August, Egidio said.
The project is estimated to. cost $3.5 million, and uses funds from gas taxes, Measure B, and Measure BB. See here for more information.
