Firefighters Battle Livermore House Fire, Altamont Pass Blaze

LIVERMORE, CA — Firefighters battled a house fire and Altamont Pass grass fire Tuesday afternoon amid triple-digit heat in Livermore.

The California Highway Patrol briefly closed the leftmost lane of eastbound Interstate Highway 580 west of North Flynn Road as crews battled a mid-afternoon blaze. The road reopened in time for the evening commute.

The house fire was reported around 2 p.m. and sparked in the 3900 block of California Way, according to smartphone app PulsePoint.

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department arrived to find two storage sheds in the back of the home caught fire and were threatening three homes, Battalion Chief Jim Artman said in an email.

Firefighters quickly stopped the fire from spreading while police controlled traffic on the street.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the house fire remains under investigation.
