Kitten Rescued From Drain In Livermore

The Livermore Public Works Department and Police Department teamed up to rescue a trapped kitten, who's now up for adoption.

LIVERMORE, CA — A tiny Livermore resident stuck in a storm drain was rescued by city crews Tuesday.

A kitten was found trapped inside a storm drain near Preston Avenue. The Department of Public Works stormwater team partnered with the Livermore Police Department's Animal Services Officer Kathy Holmes to pull off a rescue. Officer Holmes removed the storm drain cover, then lowered a humane trap and used a net to guide the kitten to safety.

The kitten is now being cared for by the East County Animal Shelter, according to the city of Livermore. Anyone interested in giving the kitten a forever home can call the shelter at 925-803-7040.
