Las Positas College (LPC) invites the community to lace up their running or walking shoes for the LPC Run for Higher Education on Saturday, March 29, 2025. This 5K run and 1-mile fun walk is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of health, wellness, and the power of education in the Tri-Valley community.

The event kicks off at 9:00 AM on the Las Positas College campus, with a scenic route that winds through campus landmarks, including the state-of-the-art Viticulture and Winery Technology Center, the Academic Quad, and the amphitheater, offering stunning views of the surrounding Livermore hills. Runners will experience a mix of paved paths and gentle inclines, making it an enjoyable course for all fitness levels.

Following the race, attendees are invited to stay for the Las Positas College Open House from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, where they can:

  • Explore the Academic & Resource Fair – Connect with faculty and staff, explore LPC’s diverse academic pathways, and learn about student support services.
  • Attend Information Sessions – Hear from LPC Counseling and Financial Aid representatives about transfer guarantees and first-year free tuition opportunities.
  • Join a Campus Tour – Get a guided look at LPC’s facilities and resources, including innovative learning spaces and student hubs.

“This event embodies the spirit of Las Positas College—bringing people together to support health, education, and community engagement,” said Dr. Dyrell Foster, President of LPC. “We welcome students, staff, neighbors and Tri-Valley community members to join us in taking meaningful steps toward a brighter future.”

Proceeds from the event will support student scholarships and wellness programs, reinforcing LPC’s commitment to fostering lifelong learning and well-being. Participants will receive a race t-shirt, participation certificate, and goodie bag, with medals awarded to top finishers.

Registration is now open, with entry fees set at:

  • $10 for LPC students
  • $20 for early-bird registration
  • $30 for regular registration

Volunteers Needed. LPC is also seeking volunteers to assist with event logistics, including registration, water stations, and course monitoring. Community members and students interested in helping can contact Chip Woerner at cwoerner@laspositascollege.edu.
