Las Positas basketball star Savannah Montini was selected to the first-team All-Coast North-Conference.
The sophomore out of Foothill High led the conference in scoring at 19.2 points a game, also averaging 6.0 rebounds. She is ranked 18th in the state in scoring.
“Definitely proud of myself. I think I worked hard. It’s an honor being named first-team all-conference,” Montini said.
Montini had an amazing game in the Hawks’ win over Diablo Valley College on Dec. 18, scoring 45 points on 20 of 32 shooting, also hauling down 12 rebounds.
A 4.0 GPA student, Montini drew rave reviews for her leadership skills, work ethic, and character from the Hawks coaching staff. She lifted her game in college, even overcoming a bout of bronchitis this season. She missed last season with an injury.
She is finally seeing some much-deserved recognition.
“I didn’t get any awards in high school for EBAL (East Bay Athletic League). I was never selected for first team, second team or honorable mention, so it was really cool getting that text from my coach that I made first-team all conference,” she said.
Montini plans to continue playing basketball at a small four-year school in Southern California. She was invited to a Sophomore Showcase for top community college players.
“I think it’s a good opportunity to get myself seen in front of four-year coaches, so we’ll see where it goes from there,” she said of the Showcase.
