Las Positas Women Win Conference Swim Title

Gritty Hawks take thrilling three-team battle

For the first time since 2019, the Las Positas College women’s swim & dive team is the Coast Conference champion.
In a tightly contested Coast Championship meet, three teams battled to the last relay to determine the top places. Las Positas outscored their opponents each day, by the narrowest of margins to maintain a start-to-finish lead.
“This Championship was unique, and will always stand out to me because we won the swimming portion with only five first places out of 21 events,” LPC coach Jason Craighead said. “Normally the winning team is able to pull off a multitude of victories, especially in relays, but our women’s team was able to win with depth and grit.”
He added the team entire team bought into the “team-first idea” all season.
“It isn’t always what you can do, it’s also what you can learn that will get you to your goals … in athletics, in academics, and in life,” he said.
The Las Positas men’s team finished third overall, with a small but fast squad.
