Lawyers Seek Text Messages Sent to Woman Accused of Sex with Teens

Attorneys working a case in which a Livermore woman is accused of having sex with two teens are looking to retrieve text messages the boys sent to her.

The requested information is a major reason the case was pushed back again Wednesday during Christine Hubbs' brief court appearance at the in Pleasanton.

She is scheduled to appear back in court Jan. 14 for a self-disposition.

"The sticking points are text messages the boys were sending to my client," said Michael Cardoza, an attorney representing Hubbs. "The district attorney is working to extricate that information from the Police Department."

Cardoza said both sides will continue to meet with a judge in the meantime to come to a resolution in the case.

"This is a sensitive case," Cardoza said. "We want to be sensitive to the young men and to (Hubbs) and her family."

Hubbs, 42, has pleaded not guilty to 67 felony counts, including unlawful sex with a minor and exhibition of lewd material to a minor.

She was arrested in August after police say they received information that she was engaging in sexual relations with juveniles under the age of 15.

An investigation discovered Hubbs "preyed" upon at least two high-school-age boys, police said.

Reports state that Hubbs provided the youngsters with expensive gifts and money during the time the incidents occurred.

The sexual assaults took place over an almost two-year period beginning in December 2008, police said.

During the investigation, police said, Hubbs communicated with the teens through text messages that were inappropriate and sexual in nature.

Detectives said they also discovered that she used a cell phone to send nude images of herself to the teens.

In addition to the felony counts, Hubbs faces five unrelated misdemeanor charges.

They stem from allegations that she drove her vehicle recklessly around town while a group of boys shot pellet guns at bystanders from the passenger windows.

Hubbs is married with three children.

She is being held at in Dublin. Bail is set at $4.3 million

Her next appearance on Jan. 14 will be held at 9 a.m. in Department 704 at the .
