Livermore Author’s Mystery Novel to Launch July 4

Livermore, Calif., June 27, 2023:

Author John G. Bluck’s Luke Ryder mystery/thriller trilogy will launch July 4 with the publication of its first book, “Death in the Holler.”

“It’s exciting to have the Luke Ryder series lift off the same day fireworks explode to celebrate the nation’s birth,” Bluck said.

“Death in the Holler” tells the story of how Luke Ryder, a Kentucky game warden, investigates a man’s murder that takes place on a farm’s food plot. The novel will be republished by Rough Edges Press with a new cover. Bluck recently signed a seven-year literary contract with Wolfpack Publishing doing business as Rough Edges Press.

In book two of the series, “Murder at NASA,” Ryder, now a Kentucky deputy sheriff, goes undercover at NASA to look into the death of Scarlet Hauk, who’d been in charge of the wind tunnel testing of a secret space plane model. This new novel’s publication date is July 25.

“Mayhem at Sea,” the third book of the series, is the tale of how vacationing Luke Ryder deals with pirates who hijack an Alaska-bound cruise ship. This thriller is slated for publication on Aug. 15.

The first two books of the series are already available for preorder from major online booksellers. Book three, “Mayhem at Sea,” will soon also be offered for presale.

Bluck and his wife, Sheryl, are residents of Livermore, Calif. Bluck retired from NASA after thirty years of service. Prior to that, he was an engineer at ABC radio network, and he also filmed daytime crime in Washington, D.C., for WMAL-TV (now WJLA-TV). Earlier, during the Vietnam War, he served in the Army as a journalist at Ft. Lewis, Washington.
