Livermore Community Service Day Postponed Due To Rain

Livermore could receive up to half an inch of rain this weekend.

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore’s Community Service Day is postponed due to rain, the city said Friday.

The city is canceling its day of volunteering and barbecues due to predictions of chilly weather and up to 0.5 inches of rain Friday through Sunday.

“Windy conditions during the time of Community Service Day. Sadly, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the event to a later date this year. We want to ensure the safety of all participants as well as the success of the event and the 30+ individual project sites. Thank you all for understanding,” the city said in a statement.

“Big thank you to everyone who registered to volunteer, and to event sponsors and organizers. We are looking forward to hosting Community Service Day at another time. Please stay tuned for updates as well as for additional opportunities to volunteer throughout the year.”

The day was set to feature hundreds of volunteers working on a number of different projects, including creek cleanup and tree planting. Despite the rain, a number of collection drives are still taking place throughout town. See here for details.
