Livermore Downtown Inc. Names New Director
Kara Klotchman, who served as LDI's marketing and operations director for 6 years, takes over for Ruby Lopez-Villareal.

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore native Kara Klotchman has been named the new executive director of Livermore Downtown, Inc., the organization announced. Klotchman brings 11 years of experience in downtown revitalization, including six years at Livermore Downtown, Inc. Klotchman replaces Ruby Lopez-Villareal, who stepped down in February after roughly 20 years with the organization.
Klotchman started working at LDI in 2012, where she served as its marketing and operations director. In that role, she helped coordinate events, manage volunteers, negotiate finances, and manage the organization's social media and marketing, among other responsibilities. In 2018, she took over as executive director of the Downtown Martinez & Co. Main Street Program, where she led initiatives that strengthened local businesses and revitalized downtown spaces.
Klotchman holds a B.F.A. in graphic design and a degree in marketing and advertising from Cal State Long Beach, and has worked as a graphic web designer and freelance graphic designer. She has contributed to the Livermore Commission for the Arts and served on the California Main Street Board of Directors.

She begins her new role March 17. "Kara is just as excited to return to her hometown as we are to welcome her back. She is fully dedicated to supporting the city’s growth while maintaining its unique character. She looks forward to helping guide Livermore Downtown toward even greater success, ensuring the city continues to be a vibrant and welcoming destination for everyone," LDI said in a statement.
