LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore Music, the nonprofit parent booster organization supporting the Livermore High School Music Department, announced that it is aiming to raise $30,000 before the end of September to support the school’s award-winning music program.

The Community Health & Education Foundation, a local Livermore nonprofit, said that it will contribute one dollar for every two dollars raised. CHEF also said that it will cover all administrative and processing fees of each donation to ensure that every dollar benefits music education.

Livermore Music hopes that its fundraising will help bridge the funding gap that threatens the program.

“That’s why we’re reaching out to the entire community to rally support for our campaign,” Livermore Music President Michael Azevedo said in a statement. “Every donation helps ensure that all our students continue to receive the quality music education they deserve. This is our one major fundraising effort for the year. With the help of CHEF and the potential to secure an additional $15,000 from CHEF, we’re confident in what we can achieve together. Every contribution, no matter how small, is vital to sustaining the high standards of our program.”

The Livermore High School Music Department has received many prestigious recognitions over the years. In April, the school’s eight musical ensembles won the Festival Sweepstakes Award, the top honor at the 2024 Worldstrides OnStage Heritage Musical Festival at Disneyland. In April 2023, the LHS Honors Symphonic Band and Honors Chamber Orchestra played at Carnegie Hall.
