Livermore Motorcyclist Dead In Early Morning Accident

A 47-year-old Livermore resident died early Monday morning after colliding with a vehicle near Portola Avenue, police said.

LIVERMORE, CA — A 47-year-old Livermore resident died after a motorcycle accident Monday morning, according to the Livermore Police Department.

At around 3:30 a.m., police responded to a collision between a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of Paseo Laguna Seco and Portola Avenue, police said. According to a preliminary investigation, a 61-year-old Livermore resident was driving southbound on Paseo Laguna Seco and made a left turn onto Portola Avenue. At the same time, a 47-year-old motorcyclist from Livermore was traveling westbound on Portola Avenue, and the two vehicles collided at the intersection.

Police arrived within minutes, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Portola Avenue and Paseo Laguna Seco were temporarily closed while officers investigated.

The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau will release the motorcyclist's identity pending notification of next of kin.
