Livermore Nationally Recognized As Bicycle Friendly Community
The city received a Bronze-level award from the League of American Bicyclists for its network of bike lanes, trails, and overpasses.
LIVERMORE, CA — With spring just around the corner, it's official: Livermore is a great place to bike.
The city was recognized as a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists, according to a city news release. Livermore was recognized for a number of bike-friendly developments, including:
- New bike lanes on First Street near 580 and Bluebell Drive
- New trail connections near North Livermore Avenue next to Chick-fil-A
- Separated bike lanes under constructions on North Canyons Road
- A new connection from the Las Colinas Overpass to Springtown
- A trail extension from the Oaks Business Park to the Arroyo Mocho Trail
- A pedestrian bridge over Isabel Avenue
- An extension of the Arroyo Road Trail to Sycamore Park south of Wetmore Road
- The South Valley Trail extension through the quarry
- New bike lanes planned for the Airway and First Street overpasses
As part of the awards process, city staff solicited feedback from community members to help the city enhance its bike-friendly initiatives. Staff and currently reviewing survey results.

"Here in Livermore, we encourage residents and visitors to explore the city’s growing network of bike lanes, trails, and cycling programs,” said Livermore Mayor John Marchand in a statement.
