- Use Anti-Theft Screws: Invest in anti-theft screws for your license plates. These specialized screws require unique tools for removal, making it much harder for thieves to steal your plates.
- Park in Well-Lit Areas: Whenever possible, park your vehicle in well-lit areas with high foot traffic. Thieves are less likely to attempt theft in areas where they can be easily seen.
- Utilize Surveillance: Choose parking spots that are within view of security cameras or in busy areas monitored by law enforcement. This can deter thieves and aid in identifying suspects if theft occurs.
- Check Regularly: Make it a habit to check your license plates regularly, especially after leaving your vehicle parked for extended periods. Quick inspections can help you detect any tampering or attempted theft.
- Report Suspected Activity: If you notice anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles or attempting to tamper with license plates, don't hesitate to report it to local authorities immediately.
- If you notice that your license plates are taken, please contact LPD at 925-371-4897 immediately to report them stolen.
