Livermore, Pleasanton Teens Arrested In Connection With Shooting
The suspects allegedly shot and threw a hatchet at victims, then led police on a 140 mph chase along I-5, Livermore police said.
LIVERMORE, CA — Three teens from Livermore and one from Pleasanton were arrested in connection with a shooting and hatchet throwing incident, and a high-speed chase that reached up to 140 mph, according to Livermore Police Department.
On Jan. 28 at around 3 p.m., Livermore police responded to reports of a shooting near Chestnut Street and North I Street, LPD said in a news release. Officers learned that a group of teens in an Infiniti with no license plates got into a verbal altercation with two other teens. The suspects then left the car and chased the other two teens over a fence. During the chase, one suspect allegedly threw a hatchet at one of the victims. A fight broke out, and at least one shot was fired, police said.
No one was hit, and the suspects drove off.

Investigators identified four suspects based on witness statements and neighborhood surveillance footage, and issued arrest warrants. Later that evening, an off-duty Livermore officer spotted the suspect vehicle in Livermore, and followed it to Tracy while notifying on-duty officers. With the help of an Alameda County Sheriff's Office helicopter, officers tracked the vehicle as it traveled to Stockton, and notified the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol.
San Joaquin County Sheriff deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects allegedly drove at speeds up to 140 mph on I-5, according to LPD. The pursuit continued onto westbound I-205, where deputies deployed spike strips that successfully disabled the vehicle west of Tracy.

The four occupants were taken into custody without further incident. Three of them were identified as suspects in the Livermore shooting. The fourth suspect was arrested separately during a separate incident on charges of disturbing the peace.
The five suspects taken into custody include three from Livermore, one from Pleasanton, and one from Stockton, and range in age from 15 to 17. They are currently in custody at the Alameda County Juvenile Hall, where they face multiple felony charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, willful discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner, and assault with a deadly weapon. One suspect already had a warrant out for his arrest, police said.
The case has been forwarded to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office for review. Suspects could face additional charges in San Joaquin County.
