Bugsy, who served the department from 2013 to 2019, passed away last week.
LIVERMORE, CA — The Livermore Police Department and wider community are bidding a sad farewell to Bugsy, an LPD canine who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7 while at home with his family.
Bugsy served from 2013 until retiring in 2019. “Bugsy was a tremendous asset to our department and performed his job with pride and distinction,” the LPD said in a social media post. “Thank you K9 Bugsy for your years of dedicated service - you will be missed.” Photos show the department saluting a flag-draped stretcher being wheeled away.
Bugsy’s handler, Officer Audrey Thompson, took care of Bugsy since his retirement, according to the LPD. He was cared for by the Valley Pet Loss Center during his final days.
