Livermore Public Libraries Participate In National Library Week

Livermore libraries are holding the Library Bingo Challenge beginning Apr. 9 for adults and teens to participate in National Library Week.

The Livermore Public Library: Join the Livermore Public Library to celebrate National Library Week, April 9-15, 2017, by picking up a Library Bingo Card at any of the three Livermore libraries. Take the challenge-- read new things, connect with the community and discover interesting new experiences. The bingo cards provide an opportunity for adults and teens to personally challenge, stretch, and explore. Complete five consecutive squares (across, down or sideways) and return the card to any Livermore Library to be entered into a raffle drawing.

Beginning Sunday, April 9th, participants may pick up a bingo card at the Information Desk at the Civic Center Library, Rincon Branch Library, or Springtown Branch Library. Participants will also receive an I Love Livermore Public Library button, pin, or a bookmark from the American Library Association (ALA).
The library bingo squares are reading related, encourage being connected, and focus on discovery. For instance, some of the bingo squares ask participants to read a memoir or graphic novel, write a thank you note, try a new recipe, and research local history. A helpful Library Bingo Tip Sheet will be provided to spark curiosity and creativity.

Turn in completed bingo cards with name and phone number, to the Information Desk at the Civic Center Library, Rincon Branch Library, or Springtown Branch Library.

National Library Week, sponsored by the American Library Association and by libraries across the country since 1958, takes place each April. National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians, as well as to promote library use and support. At the Livermore Public Library, there is much to celebrate during National Library Week. Last year, there were 61,000 library card holders, 400,000 visits to the Livermore Public Library and 750,000 checkouts.

Library Bingo exemplifies the mission of the Livermore Public Library to encourage the development of a lifelong interest in reading and learning, provide materials and services of popular interest, support the educational needs of the community, furnish timely, accurate information and build cultural awareness and enrichment.
