Livermore Volunteers Make 260 'Shamrocks For Seniors'

Forty volunteers gave their all to put smiles on the faces of Livermore seniors.

LIVERMORE, CA — As more and more vaccines get into the arms of elderly Californians, the light at the end of the tunnel is nearing. But still, these are lonely times for many older adults in Livermore.

Enter 40 volunteers with the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District who vowed to bring "the luck of the Irish" to local elderly residents by decorating notes this St. Patrick's Day, as one card read.

Volunteers make 260 shamrock-shaped cards to be distributed to elderly guests at Friday's St. Patrick's Day Drive-Thru event. The cards will also be tucked into March deliveries with the Meals on Wheels program.
