Mail Truck Crashes Into Pole, Causing Major Injuries & Road Closure

LIVERMORE, CA — A USPS truck collided with a utility pole on Morgan Territory Road in unincorporated Livermore, causing major injuries and a road closure, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, the mail truck hit a utility pole, according to a CHP incident log. Police arrived to find the driver still breathing, but with his eyes closed. All lanes of the road were blocked while the driver was transported to a nearby hospital, according to the log.

At 3:19 p.m. CHP tweeted that a major injury crash on Morgan Territory Road means the roadway would be closed for the next two hours, approximately. The tweet included of a photo of a severely damaged mail truck.

CHP spokesperson Tyler Hahn confirmed that the driver suffered major injuries, but since there were no witnesses and the driver was unable to give a statement, not much else is known as of Tuesday afternoon.
