LIVERMORE, CA — “Buckled knees are our fuel,” said Shannon Dunn about Mom’s Haunted House, a regular Livermore house that transforms into a tower of terror each October. “We're seriously doing our best to leave you shaking.”

They put in quite an effort. As you walk through the eerily glowing house, a team of 24 evil clowns, bloody witches, and sinister ghosts will jump at you from every angle.

“Mom’s Haunted House” began in the 1990s as simple Halloween decorations on the yard of 1379 Kathy Court in Livermore. Over the years, this morphed into a full-on haunted house, complete with jump scares at every corner.

“This is my mother's pride and joy,” Dunn said. “It started simple and has become something huge. Last year, we had 481 people in one night and even more on the no scare, Halloween walkthrough.”
Dunn believes the house helps cement Livermore’s reputation as a local Halloween destination.

“There's something special about Livermore,” he said. “I would say that Winding Stream, Frightmare and Mom's make Livermore a Halloween destination. I don't know of any other city in the area where you can go to three such spectacular Halloween productions that are completely free.”
