Next Blast Of Rain, Wind Rolls Toward Storm-Weary Livermore

Rain and heavy winds up to 37 mph are expected to hit Livermore Tuesday, with a possibility of thunderstorms.

LIVERMORE, CA — Spring may have arrived, but blustery and soggy weather will be in place over the Bay Area into Wednesday, with temperatures likely to run unseasonably cool for most of the week ahead.

After a sunny start to the week, the National Weather Service expects rain to roll in by Monday evening and intensify Tuesday before showers taper off mid-week.

Livermore is under a Wind Advisory Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Winds are expected to gust up t0 37 mph Tuesday, a difficult prospect for a town still cleaning up after llast Tuesday's windstorm, which knocked down at least 100 trees, one of which crashed into an apartment building and ripped into open. The storm also caused a large power outage that lasted several hours.

This Tuesday, 0.68 inches of rain are expected to fall over eight hours, and Accuweather gives a 29 percent chance of thunderstorms. The weather is expected to calm down by Wednesday, with three hours of rain and gusts slowing down to 13 mph.

Forecasters expect the highest winds will gust over the Santa Cruz Mountains, East Bay Hills and Diablo Range, and areas south through the Central Coast.

A wind advisory will be in place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday around San Francisco, the Peninsula, Northern Monterey Bay, and the East Bay and Santa Clara valleys. A high wind warning will be in place for the same period across the Santa Lucia Mountains, Los Padres National Forest, the San Benito mountains and interior Monterey County, including Pinnacles National Park.
