The was awarded a grant of $20,000 by . The grant will be used for LARPD’s “Let’s Swim” Water Safety Program for the grant period of July 1 to June 30, 2012.

The program provides low-income families access to American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim lessons as well as inexpensive recreational swim. Recreational swim is now 25 cents at , 685 Rincon Ave. Subsidized swim lessons also will be offered. Lessons cost $10 and are made possible by a $32 grant subsidy.
This grant will make it possible to offer affordable swim lessons to more than 200 people and offer reasonably priced recreational swim to 3,000 people. The “Let’s Swim” program corresponds with the grant’s objectives of promoting all-around fitness and increasing physical activity in a community setting.
