Pedestrians Struck By Car In Livermore: Police

A couple in their 60s crossing East Avenue were hit by a driver running a red light, according to witness statements.

LIVERMORE, CA — A couple in their 60s were hit by a car while crossing the intersection of East and Hillcrest avenues, according to the Livermore Police Department.

The pedestrians were hit at around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to police. A preliminary investigation suggests that they were at the southwest corner of East and Hillcrest avenues crossing in the crosswalk. According to witness statements, when the pedestrian sign signaled to cross, a vehicle traveling eastbound on East Avenue ran he red light and hit the two pedestrians. They were transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a man in his 50s from Livermore, remained on-scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
