Police Investigating Possible Gang-Related Shooting

Two people were taken to a hospital for injuries and are in stable condition, police said.

 are investigating a possible gang-related shooting that took place Sunday afternoon near Chestnut and North I streets.

Police responded to the area around 3:15 p.m. and found two people with shotgun injuries.

The victims are a juvenile and an adult, and police are not releasing their identities. They were taken to a hospital and their injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.

"(The victims) were shot in the back and shoulder, and appeared to be fleeing from the scene at the time of the shooting," Lt. Mike Trudeau said. "They are both in stable condition."

Several spent shotgun shells were found near where the two
victims were shot, police said.

There are at least two suspects involved in the shooting — a white male who was wearing red clothing and a male dressed in a ski mask and red clothing.

The Chestnut Street area off North Livermore Avenue is  known for .

On Tuesday, a 17-year-old boy was confronted by an unknown person and in the area of Sunday's shooting.

The teen was cut on his arm but did not suffer major injuries. He was uncooperative with police and officials continue to search for the suspect.

In January, a suspect in an unknown vehicle on the 1400 block of Janis Court, just off Rincon Avenue.

No one was in the vehicle and police said a shotgun was used in that incident.
