Portola Avenue Switching To One-Lane Traffic
Contractors are installing a new bike lane and planters as part of a larger housing development.
LIVERMORE, CA — Traffic along Portola Avenue will be reduced to one lane starting March 8 to make way for new bike lanes as part of the Shea Portola Townhome project, the city of Livermore announced.
Portola Avenue will be one lane between Montage Drive and Collier Canyon Road from March 8 until April 2024. The speed limit will also be reduced from 40 MPH to 25 MPH during the closure.
During that time, contractors will install a new bike lane with planter areas along Portola Avenue. Cyclists can dismount and cross Portola Avenue at either Montage Drive or Collier Canyon Road and use the southern sidewalk as a detour, the city said.
