Postal Carrier Robbed At Gunpoint In Livermore: LPD
A postal carrier was the victim of an armed robbery last week, continuing a disturbing trend.
LIVERMORE, CA — A postal worker was the victim of an armed robbery on Thursday, Sept. 12 at around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Oregon Way and Jensen Street, according to the Livermore Police Department. The case remains under investigation, so LPD is not releasing any further information, according to spokesperson Azenith Smith.
The suspect took the mail keys from the carrier, U.S. Postal Inspection Service spokesperson Jeff Fitch told Patch. The suspect is wanted for two separate federal felonies: armed robbery, and stealing a postal key.
The Tri-Valley has seen a few reported cases of postal worker robberies in the past few months. On Aug. 15, a USPS worker was held up by a suspect demanding his property in Blackhawk, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect fled on foot, and the postal carrier was not injured.

On May 7, two masked suspects robbed a postal carrier at gunpoint in Dublin and demanded her mailbox key and cell phone, according to Dublin Police Services.
Cases like this, in which suspects try to steal a mail key at gunpoint, have been on the rise in the Bay Area and around the country, according to Fitch. The USPIS has increased the reward to $150,000 for any information related to such cases, he said.
