Rescued Pit Bull "Tess" Still Facing Rough Medical Challenges

Sweet dog survived a broken shoulder then almost died after her spay surgery.

A dog rescued by Livermore's Big Dawgs rescue has had another rough close call, according to an update from her foster mom, Vivian Treas.

Tess, who was found in a Chowchilla shelter in June with an untreated broken shoulder, survived that ordeal then suffered complications from a spay surgery and almost bled to death last week.

Supporters helped raise the money for her shoulder surgery and while she faced amputation, she has been recovering and gaining more function in the injured leg.

Now they're facing more bills due to the spaying problems as Tess needed three blood tranfusions and surgery.

"It is heart breaking, but she still is the sweetest dog I have ever met," Treas said via email. "I never fostered pits — was kind of scared of them, BUT boy this little girl has taught me what the breed has to give!"
