Rodeo Weekend Arrives In Livermore

The 104th annual Livermore Rodeo kicks off Saturday.

LIVERMORE, CA — It’s finally time for the rodeo.

The weekend starts with the big parade downtown Saturday on Second Street at 10 a.m.

Prepare for possible traffic. Street closures will be in effect along Second and Third Streets from South J Street to South O Street, the police department said.

Closures start at 7 a.m. and roads should reopen by 1 p.m.

The parade theme is always to honor the Livermore Valley’s Western Heritage, the Rotary Club of Livermore said. More than 14,000 people come downtown to watch. The Rotary Club has been organizing the rodeo parade since 1977.

Gates open at the grounds for Day 1 at 11 a.m. The theme is Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day. Guests are encouraged to wear pink to show support for breast cancer research.

Grand Entry starts at 3 p.m.

Highlights of Day 1 include saddle bronc and bareback riding, wild cow milking, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding.

The Livermore Rodeo is at 3000 Robertson Park Road.
