Six-Foot Boa Constrictor Slithers Through Livermore Neighborhood
Livermore police were called when a large boa constrictor was seen loose on Big Basin Road.

LIVERMORE, CA — For all the talk of crime in Livermore, the police had never been called to rescue a six-foot boa constrictor before.
The Livermore Police Department received multiple calls Monday night from residents near the 1100 block of Big Basin Road that a boa constrictor was in the middle of the street.
Officers arrived at the scene and determined that the snake belonged to a neighborhood resident. It has since been reunited with its owner, LPD said.

Despite their large size (they can reach up to 12 feet long and weigh up to 40 pounds), boa constrictors will only bite humans if they feel threatened, and their bites are not poisonous, according to Reptile How. They consider humans too large to be prey, but will go after small birds, dogs, rodents, and anything they can fit in their mouth.
