Sunrise Over Smoky Skies: Livermore Photo Of The Day
Glenn Stewart captured this blazing red sunrise over skies impacted by wildfire smoke.

LIVERMORE, CA — It would be beautiful if it weren't so scary. Glenn Stewart snapped this photo of two palm trees across the street from the Carnegie Building Thursday morning, when smoke from the Park Fire was beginning to creep all over the region.
On Thursday afternoon, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District issued an air quality advisory across the region that has been extended through Saturday. A combination of residual wildfire smoke, local pollution, and an inversion layer is leading to poor air quality, and residents are advised to limit outdoor exposure.
Still, the BAAQMD interactive map lists the Tri-Valley air quality as "good" as of Friday. The Peninsula, southern Marin County, and the area north of Oakland along the bay are all included in the "moderate" category.
