NorCal Man Sold Weed, Psilocybin, To Children As Young As 12: Police

Police say the accused man used social media and a 13-year-old boy to sell illegal drugs at middle and high schools.

LIVERMORE, CA — A 20-year-old Tracy man has been arrested on charges of selling nicotine vapes, marijuana vapes, marijuana, and psilocybin chocolate bars to minors as young as 12 at local middle and high schools, according to the Livermore Police Department.

In April, the Livermore Police's School Resource Sergeant received complaints from parents about a person selling drugs to their children. Police say that the suspect used social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat to contact and sell to the children. He often changed his username and used fake names to avoid detection.

After 4 months of surveillance, multiple witness statements, and the execution of over 10 search warrants, Livermore police identified Gonzalez as the subject.

Police obtained a warrant to search his Tracy apartment, where they said they found more than $40,000 in cash, and vapes valued at roughly $125,000. Police also said Gonzalez was using a 13-year-old boy to help distribute these products.

On Oct. 26, Gonzalez was arrested by Tracy police. He faces multiple charges, including selling and furnishing cannabis to a minor, possession of psilocybin for sale, possession of cannabis for sale, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and selling tobacco products without a license.

The case has been turned over to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact LPD's anonymous tip line at 925-371-4790.
