1 Injured In Explosion That Destroyed Long Beach Residential Building
One person was injured in an explosion that destroyed a residential building in Long Beach Monday morning.
LONG BEACH, CA — One person was injured in an explosion that destroyed a residential building in Long Beach Monday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The explosion, possibly related to natural gas, occurred on a residential property on the 2800 block of Gale Avenue in the Upper Westside area. The destroyed building was a back house on the property, police said.
The explosion occurred at around 11 a.m. One person was transported to a local trauma center with burn injuries, ABC 7 reported.

The explosion also caused minor damage to the main home on the property, the Long Beach Post reported.
The Post, citing a fire official, reported that the blast was likely related to a gas leak from an appliance: The caller who reported the explosion said that it occurred after someone turned on the dryer. But fire officials say the cause remains under investigation.

Crews extinguished multiple small fires on the property.
The blast left 1,900 customers without power in the area. Electricity was restored to the neighborhood by around noon, the Post reported.
