Investigators believe Gomez was struck by a 2011-14 silver Honda Fit, based on debris left at the scene.
Police said the car should have damage to its front bumper and hood, a broken headlamp, a broken or missing side mirror housing -- all on the driver’s side -- and possibly the windshield.

The Honda skidded more than 100 feet before impact, based on marks left on the road, the Long Beach Press-Telegram reported.
A friend told the newspaper Gomez was riding his skateboard home from El Dorado Park skate park. Family and friends urged officials to provide a crosswalk from the park, saying drivers travel at freeway speeds along that section of Spring Street.
Anyone with more information was asked to call Long Beach police Detective Steve Fox at (562) 570-7355 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
