14 Injured After Bus And Car Crash Into Restaurant In Long Beach

The Long Beach Fire Department declared the crash at the Boujie Crab in North Long Beach a mass casualty incident.

LONG BEACH, CA — A total of 14 people were injured when a Long Beach Transit bus crashed into a car and then into a restaurant in North Long Beach Thursday afternoon.

Long Beach Police Department officers were notified of the crash at 3:15 p.m. at the Boujie Crab restaurant. Paramedics also responded to the scene because multiple people were reported to be injured.

According to the Long Beach Fire Department, 14 people were injured in the accident and needed to be transported to local hospitals for treatment. LBFD told the Long Beach Post that six of the people were in serious condition.

According to the Long Beach Post, fire officials had to extricate two people trapped in the wreckage.

The two-story building had homes above the restaurant and LBFD said two residents were displaced as a result of the crash.

The vehicle involved in the crash appeared to be largely destroyed, pushed by the front end of the transit bus into the restaurant. It was unclear how many of the injured were in the vehicle, on the bus or in the restaurant.

South Street between Myrtle Avenue and Lewis Avenue was closed while LBPD continued its investigation.
