According to homicide detectives, the boy and a relative of his drove to the area, where the boy left the car while the relative stayed inside the car. When the boy returned, he was being followed by a group of unknown people police said.

Moments later, the suspects began shooting and stuck the boy as well as the vehicle. The boy's relative fled in the car and immediately called police. The group fled the scene before police arrived.
