2 Men Shot To Death Near Homeless Encampment In Long Beach: Police

The shooting happened around 8:36 p.m. Wednesday near where the Compton Creek meets the Long Beach (710) Freeway, according to police.

LONG BEACH, CA — Police say they're investigating a shooting in Long Beach that left two men dead Wednesday night.

The two men, according to police, were shot near a homeless encampment in an area where the Compton Creek meets the Long Beach (710) freeway sometime before 8:36 p.m.

Both men, who'd been shot multiple times in the upper body, died at the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Their identities were not immediately available. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office will release their identity after notifying their next of kin.

It's unclear who shot them or why. Police said in a press release Thursday morning that the motive and circumstances of the shooting were still under investigation.
