LONG BEACH, CA — Six people were hospitalized over the weekend after a crash in Downtown Long Beach, according to police.

A car loaded with five women was going eastbound on Ocean Boulevard and was trying to make a left turn onto northbound Long Beach Boulevard when a man driving westbound on Ocean Boulevard struck them, police said.

The five women, along with the man, were taken to a local hospital for treatment and observation, police said.

One of the women suffered injuries to her upper body and was listed in critical but stable condition, according to police, while the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to his upper and lower body.

Police say speed and impaired driving may have been factors in the crash, but did not elaborate on who was at fault.
