6 Rescued Off Sinking Boat Off Long Beach

The rescuers were able to save the boat from sinking and the stricken craft was towed to Spinnaker Bay

LONG BEACH, CA - Six people were rescued Thursday from a boat that was taking on water off Long Beach.

Lifeguards aboard two boats responded around 6 p.m. to the 36-foot power vessel sinking approximately 2.5 miles from shore with 6 passengers aboard, Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Mark Miller said.

The passengers included three adults, two kids, and one infant. The passengers were able to board a bait barge while waiting for rescue, he said.

The rescuers were able to save the boat from sinking and the stricken craft was towed to Spinnaker Bay, Miller said.

No one on board was injured.
