60+ Cargo Containers Spill Into Port Of Long Beach
Cargo operations were temporarily suspended at the terminal as responders worked to secure the containers.

LONG BEACH, CA — Dozens of cargo containers spilled into the water Tuesday morning in the Port of Long Beach, according to authorities.
The U.S. Coast Guard responded to a call about the incident around 8:45 a.m., according to the agency. There were 67 containers in the water, and a number more collapsed on board the Mississippi, which is the vessel where the incident occurred.
The containers fell from the Mississippi while it was berthed at the Pier G terminal, port Public Information Officer Art Marroquin said in a prepared statement.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or pollution, but the Coast Guard planned to do a flyover later Tuesday.
