78-Year-Old Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash In Long Beach

Long Beach police are searching for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 78-year-old woman.

LONG BEACH, CA — A 78-year-old woman who was involved in a hit-and-run crash with another driver last month died in the hospital due to her injuries, Long Beach police announced.

Police said Long Beach resident Nikki Rash succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.

Rash was involved in a crash at the intersection of California Avenue and San Antonio Drive at 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 26. Rash told officers a tan Toyota Avalon was traveling eastbound on San Antonio Drive when it ran a red light and collided with her vehicle.

The other driver briefly got out of his car, then got back in and fled the scene, according to LBPD. At this time, investigators believe that distracted driving on the part of the suspect was a factor in the crash.
