After tallying the votes, 27.8% favor more infrastructure investment, 16.1% want federal involvement, 1.7% say faith-based groups need to step up, 4.8% want the military to open its bases, and 48.3% ask for justice system involvement.

📰 Here are the top five stories today in Long Beach:

1) A boy was arrested for “the attempted murder of a teenage woman back in July.” We learned on Friday that the juvenile is a Signal Hill resident. The victim, you may remember, is a 16-year-old girl who was setting up for a fundraiser “around 11:45 a.m. on July 3 in the 1400 block of Magnolia Avenue.” A search netted the PD an “AR-15 rifle, a shotgun, a 40 caliber handgun, magazines and ammunition.” (Patch, KFI)

2) Did Council Member Suzie Price’s campaign for mayor violate election regulations? It was reported on Saturday that the Fair Political Practices Commission received a complaint from a supporter of Vice Mayor Rex Richardson. It alleges Price “misused her position in city government to promote her mayoral campaign” by advertising a campaign website link “on city-run websites, at city events and in her official District 3 newsletter.” The Price campaign calls it “a political ploy.” However, an independent law firm’s assessment does “merit violations of campaign law.” (Press-Telegram)

3) The LBPD responded to reports of shot fired in the 300 block of Market Street. The call came in around 3:04 a.m. on Saturday. “Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred.” However, there were no suspects or victims. (LBPD)

4) What’s happening on Loynes Drive? You have probably seen public works employees finishing up “concrete work on the sidewalk & ADA ramps . . . between Bellflower Boulevard & Pacific Coast Highway.” We learned on Saturday that the next steps will be “irrigation and planting . . . along with asphalt work.” (LB Public Works)

5) Mark your calendars! The Long Beach Towne Center Dave & Buster’s will open on September 19! Approved in 2019, it took over the food court, where there were eateries like Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks. “We’re hoping to liven the Towne Center up and make it a hoppin’ place again,” the manager explained. Seeing that there’ll be “around 180 games,” “a four-player virtual reality attraction,” and plenty of food, it’s going to be fun. (LB Business Journal)
