Argument Turned Shooting Hospitalizes Man In Long Beach

An argument between two men escalated into a shooting, sending one man to the hospital Wednesday night.

LONG BEACH, CA — An argument between two men escalated into a shooting late Wednesday night in Long Beach, sending one man to the hospital, police said.

Long Beach Police Department officers responded to the 3300 block of 65th Street at about 11:05 p.m. to investigate a shooting report. When officers arrived, they found a man who had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in his lower body.

Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital to treat his wounds.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and a male adult suspect were in a verbal argument outside, which escalated when the suspect shot the victim," LBPD said in a statement.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
